Redbricks School In Ahmedabad initiates "Use paper bags Say No to Polythene"

A Redbricks initiative to Say no to polythene bags is a message not only to the people of our Country but has been passed on to different  countries in the form of collaborative learning with the students of  Y.E Elementary school Durham  , New Jersey institute of technology  and many more  . The students of College of Architecture and design  New Jersey visited the school campus to design a project on School and its landscape . They interacted with the students of Grade 5 - 7 to Understand the landscaping and and the purpose behind it . They also had a  discussion about conservation of environment and how Red bricks believes and contributes to the vision  of “Clean India Green India”.

Shaping their belief  the children of classes 5, 6 and 7 made paper bags using the old newspapers. They later colored the paper bags to give  a vibrant look and wrote messages and poems to inspire others to reduce the use of plastic bags and start using it to carry things. They then began with the distribution drive. They distributed the handmade paper bags to all the people in the vicinity  belonging to different strata of the society ,as despite of being aware of the consequence and the threat posed to the environment we are using the slow poison called polythene. They conveyed the message of “REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE”. As the children approached the people around , it was amazing to look at the response  and  many of them were astonished to see such a creative use of old newspapers done by the little environmentalists. The children while presenting the paper bags explained the concept of REUSING and how poly bags can harm our environment. The children inspired the people to  use the paper bags while going for shopping .Each one of them took a pledge not to use polythene bags anymore and save the environment .

This could happen because of the advancement in Science & Technology. Children got exposure to know more about the other countries, their culture and values sitting in India through the interaction by using Technology. Such interactions also help Teachers to bring Internationalism in the School Curriculum, which makes the Curriculum more interesting for the Children.
